2017 Run to Remember
Please join us for our 7th annual Run to Remember to be held on Saturday, September 9th, 2017 in Lansing’s Old Town. This event is to remember those who lost their lives on September 11, 2001, including 19 with Michigan connections, and to honor and celebrate the brave men and women across Michigan who protect and serve our communities and nation on a daily basis.
The race will start and end near the Brenke Fish Ladder in Lansing’s Old Town. This is located at the intersection of Turner Street and Grand River Avenue (Parking Lot 56). The course runs along the Lansing River Trail with a pass by the 9/11 memorial located in Wentworth Park (across from the Radisson). This is a family (and pet) friendly event and all are encouraged to attend.
Funds raised by this event will support the programming of the Michigan Remembers 9-11 Fund. This includes sending two Michigan first responders to New York City for an all-expense paid weekend to compete in the Stephen Siller Foundation National Tunnel to Towers 5K run/walk held at the end of September. The nomination process for the trip to NYC is now open until August 6th. If you are a Michigan first responder interested in the chance at this travel opportunity, please see our 2017 nomination page for more information.
Other programming that the proceeds will benefit include a 9/11 reflection essay contest for high school students, first responder recognition programs, and 9/11/01 victim remembrance efforts.
Registration for the 5k is $30.00 per person while children 13 and under are free. There is a $10.00 discount provided to active duty and veteran military and public safety (fire, police, and EMS) personnel by using the coupon code “hero.”
The overall winner of the run will receive a certificate good for 4 tickets to any 2018 Lansing Lugnuts game! Runners up will receive a gift card to Playmakers.
